Who makes your piece

In 2015, we decided to embrace what was already our own soul: craftsmanship. But how could we embrace handmade and prioritize manual work without focusing on the people? The artisan and the designer! Those who create, who sit down to create with needle and thread, who sew, who revise, distribute the pieces.

With this in mind, we decided to expose the costs involved in the production process of each of our pieces. It was a way not only to draw attention to our priorities but also to question what is often inherent in the making of a fashion product. We were the first fashion brand in Brazil to launch this initiative.

This initiative aims to prompt consumers to ask questions such as: "What lies behind and how does the fashion and production chain work in general? What kinds of lives and values do we encourage through our consumption habits?"

Our idea is:

Less financial effort invested in brand exposure and more dedication to those who truly make Catarina Mina. This is realized through the choice of raw materials, the value paid to seamstresses and artisans, and also by respecting their specific production methods. Crocheters have the security of a monthly income but work in their homes, on their own time, and at their own pace. Artisans shape Catarina Mina's way of being and actively share in the company's profits. And this isn't just rhetoric. It's simply respecting the raison d'être of our brand.

The beauty of "Uma Conversa Sincera" is acknowledging that it's a project, and that it's never finished. It's by questioning, conversing, rethinking, that we find answers and, most importantly, invite the consumer to participate with us. Consumer, artisan, and designer in a circle, a dance, a network.
